The 605 Collective Vancouver, BC ![]() Choreographer
The 605 Collective Performers Justine Chambers Lisa Gelley Shay Kuebler Josh Martin David Raymond Inheritor EP is a series of work-in-progress excerpts from The 605 Collective’s Inheritor Album, the next collaborative creation by the company’s co-directors. Drawn from selected interpretations of “inheritance” and succession, on both micro and macro levels, the completed full-length Inheritor Album will contain multiple short pieces shown together to build a collection of complimenting ideas, images and movement. Bringing together three young choreographic voices to form a powerfully united vision, the album will become a cohesive work that pulls apart the roles of inheritor and predecessor, exploring a turbulent transitional period between the two, creating brief snapshots of a generational place in time. The completed full-length version will premiere in the Summer of 2012, and will feature six performers, original sound design, and integrated film/animation projections. The co-directors of The “605” Collective Dance Society are Lisa Gelley, Shay Kuebler and Josh Martin. These Vancouver-based dance artists are committed to the creation and performance of new work inspired by both urban and contemporary dance. The freedom found in this cohesion, along with the merging of their distinct bodies and perspectives, has awakened an exciting, fresh, and unpredictable aesthetic to capture new audiences. Through constant collaboration, the collective members continue pushing past their individual limitations and moving towards new possibilities. bang/crunch

examines the awakening, creation, and ultimate demise of a being. We
witness the being struggle in controlling muscle and neuronal
functions. The being begins to take on emotional qualities that have
been harboured in its memory or make-up. Over time, the being becomes
overwrought with stimuli, causing an eventual breakdown of both body
and spirit.Jason Stroh Performer Hilary Maxwell Jason would like to thank Dancers Studio West and m-body (Davida Monk, Artistic Director) for providing rehearsal space. Jason Stroh began his formal dance training at The University of Calgary and has continued in Victoria, Toronto, Montreal, Vienna, New York and Sweden. explores the inner personal rhythms denied while accentuating the
rhythmic vitality in musicianship of the African Diaspora
syncretically, intricately and humanistic ally intertwined with modern
dance of introspective sensibilities. What physical rhythms are lost
when we clothe ourselves, when we sacrifice bodily expression to adapt,
learn what is socially acceptable. The Interludes within often beat at
our skin asking for the moments of expression, of freedom, of release.Kevin A.
