A Note From our Festival Producer

Welcome to the 32nd Annual Dancing on the Edge Festival of Contemporary Dance and a very different festival it is in this Pandemic Year.  When it became obvious that we would not be able to go forward with a festival in our keeping with our 31 year old festival model, the idea of an on-line digital festival was born. I felt it was important that the festival find away to not only connect to our audiences but, also, find a way to continue to  support the many dance artists and dance companies who have supported and performed at the festival over the years.  With performing arts venues closed, touring restricted and dance classes moved online, the very livelihoods of all performing artists have been impacted greatly. Although we were not able to undertake as many presentations as in past festivals, the festival is proud to have put together five live performance opportunities for restricted audience numbers as well as fourteen streamed online programs. Our partnerships with the response. and with the F-O-R-M Festival have ensured that throughout the ten day festival, 32 different artists will receive funding for their work. And so, at this time, I wish to thank all of the festival artists, the festival Board of Directors, the festival staff and, of course, all of those donors, sponsors and public funders who have helped  make this festival possible. We look forward to being able to meet again next year in the theatre but in the meantime: Be Calm, Be Safe and Be Kind and very importantly,  Keep On Dancing!

Thank You,

Donna Spencer,

Festival Producer
