Vancouver-based Aeriosa Dance Society was founded by artistic director/choreographer Julia Taffe in 2001 to manifest art, performance, 21st century culture, and express human perception and sensitivity through dance.

The company’Äôs artistic objectives include creating dance in non-traditional environments, exploring aerial choreography and revealing dance in the vertical realm to new audiences. The company combines contemporary dance technique with expert knowledge of safe rope rigging systems to create three-dimensional performances that re-interpret gravity and respond to the performance location.

The artists train in the mountains where they dance on sheer rock walls, while in urban environments site-specific performances take place in theatres and plazas - and on walls, ledges and city rooftops. The choreography of each work is re-created and adapted to highlight each venue, a creative process that promotes our connection with the communities we visit. The company engages communities through free performances and workshops believing art enriches lives and that all people, regardless of income status or other barriers, should have access to dance. Les moutons - Sylvie Bouchard / David Danzon
First created in 2003 by Sylvie Bouchard and David Danzon with CORPUS, Les moutons has surprised, entertained and touched audiences of all ages around the world. Reality meets fantasy in this unique live installation that recreates a pastoral country scene in an urban setting. Travel to a strange and hilarious universe that takes you through a carefully studied overview of sheep behaviour. Each moment is savored... time stands still... les moutons

Automaton Theatre - Kate Franklin
Automaton Theatre is a contemporary dance solo created and performed by Kate Franklin. Based on the short fiction of American author Steven Millhauser, the work deals with a life-sized clockwork figure, and the master who has devoted his life to the creatures' creation. The piece features an interactive musical set designed by Ryan Land and an original score by Lyle Crilly.

Romeo & Juliet before parting... - Nova Bhattacharya/ Louis Laberge-Cote
An anti-pas de deux. Fiction's greatest tragic lovers, struggling with their mortal coils.

TENTERHOOKS - Zata Omm Dance Projects
TENTERHOOKS is filled with the quirks and quandries of a camping trip threesome. It is inspired by all manner of camping experiences; the upsets and the surprising joys which arise from unexpected circumstances found under canvas. The soundtrack accompanying TENTERHOOKS is from original scores of films by Alfred Hitchcock.

Shirts and Skirts - Sara Coffin
A rousing performance that seamlessly flows from dance to sport to contact to action framed in the energy of the survival of the fittest. A combination of quick movements, and negotiations melded into one, Shirts and Skirts is the perfect way to spend an evening in the park.

La gigue du souvenirs - Sylvie Bouchard
It is said that the French gigue might have been influenced by the Irish Jig and might possibly be the descendant of the English Jig. These traditional dances allowed people to interact with one another, court, and find pleasure in music, dance, and each other's company. La gigue en souvenirs was created not by researching traditional gigue steps, movements or formations, but simply by searching for what is still within me as a trace of that heritage.
