| FESTIVAL PROFILE: Co. Erasga Friday, July 10, 9pm PARADIS/PARADISE Acclaimed Vancouver choreographer Alvin Erasga Tolentino brings an exquisite new site-specific version of his 2008 work PARADIS/Paradise to the outdoor environment of the historic Roundtable outside the Roundhouse, for the Dancing on the Edge Festival. An adventurous intercontinental collaboration with French composer Emmanuel de St Aubin, who accompanies the performance live, PARADIS/Paradise is performed by Tolentino, with video images by Vancouver media artist Donna Szoke. Raw, bold and surprising palates of sounds, imagery and movement project the body out to the external world, in an electrifying meditation on the elusive personal voyage of Paradise. |

| FESTIVAL PROFILE: Henry Daniel Saturday, July 11, 8pm Wed to Sat. July 8-26 12noon to 5pm t2 ...a telematic dance performance Telematics is the use of computers in concert with telecommunication systems. Telepresence technology allows a person to feel as if they are present in a location different to the one that they currently are in. t2 explores these two terms in a conceptual manner, drawing on notions of time, space, place and identity. The work links the Scotia Bank Dance Centre with the Interurban Gallery on the Downtown Eastside through the Internet. t2 is the first of two media works funded by the Canada Council and the National Science and Engineering Research Council to develop video coding and processing for telepresence in the performing arts. The second, Imprint, will preview at UBC's Museum of Anthropology on January 23rd 2010 and will also form part of SFU at Woodward's Inaugural Program at the Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre in June 2010. |
