IF is an interrogation between different parts of ourselves personifying the internal struggle and dialogue between those voices in our heads, which keep us coming back to question: “if”.

Drawing on the influence of his mother on his work as an artist and working with an all female cast, Ying Yun will explore themes of identity, gender, representation, recognition, power, endurance and struggle. “Ying Yun is my mother’s name. Ying means Hero and Yun means Cloud. This piece is dedicated to my mom who passed away four years ago from ovarian cancer.”

In celebration of the Dancing on the Edge Festival’s 30th Anniversary, For You, For Me, is a brief solo giving thanks to a space and the people who have played a significant part in my life as a dance artist. For me, it is an opportunity to reflect at large on what I have been given, on what I have yet to receive and what I have misplaced.
