An interactive dance installation/performance that explores the physical, psychological, and emotional spaces and places of the “in-between”. Mirrors and text are integrated into the work creating reflections, proposing questions, and offering choices on how to view the dance to create possible new ways of perceiving and experiencing. Relationships between viewer and performer change, ways of viewing the dance change. These alterations engage the senses and offer options for the viewer and performer to meet at “the place between”. Max. 25 viewers at a time.
Donna Redlick has been presenting her dance works at festivals and performances in Vancouver and the Lower Main land since 1993. In 2008 her solo “sometimes it never leaves the skin” was invited to London, England to be presented as part of the Open Space Festival. Donna is dedicated to creating and producing independent contemporary dance works that are sourced from the personal and lived experience.
“I believe that dance is like tracing the lived experience through the unfolding of the body in space and time. It is within this unfolding that an ephemeral architecture is made visible - an architecture that for a fleeting moment allows the human experience to become tangible. Sensitive to the human condition and the idea of self I believe that we are in a constant state of reflecting, being and becoming. How we are and become in our environments, whether natural or urban, is a curiosity for me.”
