As we close our 32nd annual Dancing on the Edge Festival (and our first to digitally stream our programs!) we would like to extend our thanks to all of our talented choreographers, dancers, creatives, and crew. We also show our gratitude for our festival staff, Firehall Arts Centre staff, our funding bodies and donors.
In 2020, Dancing on the Edge Festival is proud to have presented THREE LIVE WORKS in the Firehall Arts Centre theatre and courtyard stage (two of which were streamed on YouTube)! These performances were socially-distanced with coronavirus precautions in place. We hosted SIX EDGE PROGRAMS with a mix of world premieres, dance documentaries, short films, and work-in-progress film showings, streamed for the first time throughout the world! We also partnered with F-O-R-M (Festival of Recorded Movement) and the response. to present F-O-R-M on the Edge and Dance Cafe on Instagram Live!
Details on our COVID COMMISSIONS applications are coming soon! Sign-up to our eNews to be the first in the know!
If you enjoyed any of our programs this year and would like to support us in bringing world class contemporary dance to our local community in Vancouver and throughout the globe, please consider making a donation to the festival! You can donate to the festival here.
And finally, to show our absolute appreciation for everyone who participated in this year’s festival, please enjoy a snapshot from our #DOTE Opening Night (held for the first time on Zoom!), hosted by Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg and featuring some of this year’s choreographers, dancers, festival board, staff and supporters. This year the “party” engaged in a group dance to physicalise the feelings of 2020 and to utilise dance as a vehicle for community! Enjoy!
